High-res
Well I survived the @warriordash, but my iPhone did not. I had it closed up in a ziploc bag just in case and it did great up until the very end, but when I was crawling through the very last obstacle, 20 feet from the finish line (a watery trench underneath robe and barbed wire) the phone got knocked out of my hand. I then promptly spent the last 20 seconds blindly reaching around the water to try and grab ahold of it again. Once I finally found it I grabbed it and ran to the finish where my sister promptly informed me these ziploc bags weren’t exactly air tight.
While hers was able to survive (was working fine as of this morning), mine still wouldn’t turn on. In fact mine seemed to not have as much water damage as hers at first glance, but hers remained on and mine didn’t. I hoped for the best, but after letting it sit and dry overnight it still wouldn’t do anything… and when I returned home to the proper tools to open the thing up, it was apparent that all hope was lost.
Luckily, Apple offers a replacement price of $199 so I didn’t have to pay the $599 retail price.
Truth be told, I would still take my iPhone with me on the next one, but I’ll definitely take quite a few more precautions about it’s safety before doing so!
Oh and BTW, I HIGHLY recommend doing a run like the warrior dash. SUPER fun!
